A Very Fine Italian Violin by Romeo Antoniazzi, Cremona 1905

Description

The Property of the Late Alfonso Evangelisti (1915-1976). Alfonso Evangelisti studied at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory of music, graduating with honours and awarded the prestigious Medaglia D'Oro. He was presented with this violin by his Professor. During the war he enlisted as an officer in the Italian army, and was captured by the Allies in Libya. After the war he found his way to Ireland, where he married and joined the newly formed Eireann Symphony Orchestra, where he spent the rest of his working life.
