An Extremely Fine Italian Violin by Gennaro Gagliano, Naples circa 1760
Description
Property of the Late Emanuel Green. This violin was played for almost 50 years by American violinist Emanuel Green, a Concertmaster, contractor and accomplished session musician. Mr. Green, a graduate of the Juilliard School of Music, began his career conducting vaudeville orchestras and performing live with such artists as Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw and Benny Goodman. Subsequently, he appeared on numerous radio and TV shows. Mr. Green was Concertmaster for Frank Sinatra and recorded with a multitude of celebrities, including Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Sammy Davis Jr., Billie Holiday, Tony Bennett, Roberta Flack, Herbie Hancock, Bob Dylan, Sarah Vaughan, George Benson, among many others.
