Fiorini, Raffaele
Received early training from Giuseppe and Ignazio Tadolini of Modena, and moved to Bologna in 1847. His workshop became the centre of the craft in the city in the second half of the century, and he was responsible for training most of the leading makers of the following generation. His work helped to define Italian making in the twentieth century, with a strong allegiance to Stradivarian ideals, but an often vivid and idiosyncratic use of varnish and materials.
