Bergonzi, Niccolo
B. 1754, d.1832, Cremona
Eldest son of Zosimo. Aided by a revival of interest in Cremonese making in the late eighteenth century, and the activities of Lorenzo Storioni, Nicola at times recovered some of the ground lost by his father. Some work is excellently proportioned, but most lack refinements in execution and finish. By 1800 he had withdrawn from making, and lived primarily as a cloth merchant.
